History – Milestones
1951 GB Heimer, the Swedish engineer, invents wet ready-mixed sand filler, which is made of sea sand and cellulose. Klint Bernhardt company in Stockholm initiates production.
1955 Filler production is transferred from the mortar factory in Stockholm to the Stråbruken plant in Sala. Sala has deposits of the white dolomite marble that has replaced sea sand as the filling agent. Production of Breplasta commences.
1957 The Eriksson family’s Dala Kemiska Fabrik AB in Ludvika starts the production of wet ready-mix filler.
1965 Dala Kemiska moves to Glanshammar, where there are also dolomite deposits, and builds a new factory for wet filler products.
1982 The first lightweight filler on the market is launched by Dalaspack.
1983 The Ernström Group, which manufactures construction materials, acquires Dala Kemiska.
1987 Scanspac is founded through the Stråbruken wet ready-mix factory becoming a jointly-owned facility shared by leading paint producer Alco-Breckers and Stråbruken.
1992 Spray filler, for application through high-pressure airless sprayers, is launched.
1996 Optiroc, the construction material manufacturer, acquires the Ernström Group including Dalaspack.
1998 Optiroc also acquires Stråbruken, achieving ownership of both Scanspac and Dalaspack.
1999 Scanspac joins forces with Dalaspack. The new company becomes the leading wet ready-mix filler manufacturer in Northern Europe.
2007 Saint Gobain, the multinational construction material manufacturer, acquires the entire Scanspac operation through Gyproc, its subsidiary.
As you can see, the Dalapro roots stretch far back into the history of filler for painters. On account of our experience, knowledge and extensive resources, we are now one of the leading filler manufacturers in Europe.
